Day 37. April 28. On to Spanish Wells, Eleuthera. MIles 61.9 Total Miles. 562.1

Day 37 After pondering the weather, we decided to go out of the pass and see the sea conditions.  We battened down all loose items, had breakfast, and packed lunch. I readied the boat while Bill took the drone up  for some last minute shots of Little Harbor.   These shots are of the harbor. This shot is looking south back onto Great Abaco Island. And the ones below this are of the entrance to the harbor. This last shot is of the Bight of Robinson and looking north Fired up the engines and loosed the mooring lines and left Little Harbor, starting our journey south to Eleuthera.  The swells were 3.5 feet at about 6.8 seconds.  Winds were 8-10 knots.  Was a bit rolly, but we were taking the seas on our quarter bow so it was not bad at all.  Decided to make a go of it!!  The swells were supposed to diminish as the day progressed and the periods between waves lengthen. Here is Bill with his wide leg stance to steady himself from the action o...

Day 35 Addendum and Day 36. April. 26-27. Change of anchorage to Little Harbor and Lay day in Little Harbor. Miles. 2.9. Total Miles. 500.1

Addendum to Day 35 After we anchored and settled in, we contacted Gary and carol on MVJuggernaut to thank them for warning us of the wave action in the North Bar Cut.   They texted us back and said they were in Little Harbor and that moorings were available.   After some discussion, we decided to pull anchor and move to Little Harbor on the next rising tide. So at 5:45 pm we left Lynyard Cay and motored the 2.9 miles due south.  We passed the south end of Lynyard Cay and crossed the Little Harbor Cut where we encountered some funky waves 3-5 foot, coming in from the Atlantic. Luckily our plan of making the trip conicided with slack tide so we did not have to negotiate any current. Took some on waves our beam and then turned to get into the entrance to Little Harbor and our big boat actually surfed down two waves pushing our speed to 11 knots.  Was a joy ride but Bill ahd quite a job of keeping the boat lined up to get through the narrow entrance to t...

Day 35. April 26. On to Lynyard Cay. MIles 9.3. Total Miles. 497.1

Day 35 Spent a quiet morning researching weather and relaxing,  Our weather window is still okay with 2 of the three weather apps we use.  Keeping our fingers crossed. Here is the chart of our route for the past two days. It is interesting that each of the islands has reef off their southern end and then a small cut into the Atlantic.  There is also a lot of shallow water that we have to cruise around.  Also interesting is the number of mangrove island off the coast of Great Abaco as we head south. After lunch, weighed anchor to head a bit further south to Lynyard Cay.  This cay is three miles long  running north and south separating the Sea of Abaco from the Atlantic.  We will cruise parallel to Tilloo Cay until we pass the salt pond and then head west to go around the very large sand bar at the end of the island. The water color over the sand bar was a beautiful turquoise.    The shot below shows what islands off Great Abaco look lik...
