This day started off foggy, but by mid morning most had cleared away and we had beautiful blue sky!!
We weighed anchor and headed for Three Finger Bay to anchor again. Our cruise alternated between winding through granite islands and the open water of Georgian Bay, til we turned east behind Frying Pan Island to slowly navigate the tight channels into Three Finger Bay.
Along the way we saw a bald eagle with eaglets in her nest, lots of Canadian flags,
lots of granite islands,
and a few more rock man statues.
We anchored with 5 cruisers, three of which were rafted together in this beautiful lake in the Masssasauga Provincial Park. Tall pine trees and a few deciduous trees line the shore and not a home in sight.
Massasauga Provincial Park has backcountry camping and rustic cabins, biking and hiking trails, canoes and kayaks, and rock climbing, as well as cross country skiing, skating, snow mobiles, sleds and tobaggans. This park also is a protected habitat for the Massasauga rattlesnake- a much smaller version of the ones we have in the US.
Kyle got a chance to relax a bit once we were settled at anchor.
After lunch, we launched the dinghy to explore the three arms of the lake. We discovered tall rock ledges, a boat dock with communal fire pit and several forested islands within the lake. We shared the lake with canoes, and kayaks and jet skis and boat dinghys. Other than the noise of the occasional seaplane overhead and motors of the jet skis/dinghys all we heard were birdsong.
and lots of granite!
Also saw our third eagle on this trip and actually got a picture of him!!
Of course, Bill got his rock climbing in and so did Kyle.
