Day 54
Leaving the swimming pigs and grotto behind, we pull anchor from Big Major/Staniel Cay. Seas are calm and wind is light- perfect for traveling.
We follow our waypoints past Sandy Cay and Twin Cays heading northwest, passing the island of Sampson Cay.
Turning east, we head up the channel to Pipe Creek. Pipe Creek area is actually a tidal creek surrounded by a series of smaller cays with names of - Rat, Little Mice, Pipe, Little Pipe, Thomas, Joe and my favorite Over Yonder Cay. Will be fun to explore these beautiful turquoise waters.
Many of the islands are private with a few scattered homes and docks. We passed this on our way into the anchorage.
These cliffs guard the islands south end at a small cut.
This is our view from the anchorage. Not too shabby!!!
After settling in and getting lunch, we launched the dinghy to explore the creek and its many islands and rocks.
We did not expect the huge cliffs on the ends of the islands right by the two cuts that allow boaters to enter Exuma Sound. We marveled at mother nature and her sculpting.
Bill also took some drones shots of this spectacular area.
Pictures just do not do the water color justice.
